Major Alexey Shmeklov
killed in action. He was 34 years old and served in the Yamam unit for 10 years
He was an operator on the rappelling team (Monkeys), an EOD technician, and a team leader. Alexey was a talented fighter, a gifted boxer, and a creative poet. He was a big man with the heart of a songbird— clever and funny.
Alexey was KIA on October 7, 2023, while fighting in the battles at the Sderot police station.
He was buried in the military cemetery in Haifa. He left behind his parents and a sister.
